EP-TM meeting

The purpose of the 19th Technical Meeting on Energetic Particles in Magnetic Confinement Systems is to discuss the status of experimental and theoretical work on suprathermal electrons and ions in a variety of magnetic confinement geometries.

The meeting will cover the sources, dynamics – including transport and losses – of energetic particles, including their confinement properties. It will also provide a detailed account of the location of lost energetic particle incidence on first wall components, the collective instabilities they drive, their impact on plasma properties in different operational scenarios, and energetic particles diagnostics and analysis techniques.

In particular, the meeting aims at identifying open physics issues and gaps associated with energetic particles in ITER and future fusion power plants.

As for previous editions of the meeting, a Special Edition of refereed journal articles will be published in Nuclear Fusion (subject to approval by the Nuclear Fusion Editorial Board).

The 2026 EP_TM is organized by the Swiss Plasma Center, EPFL – Lausanne, Switzerland.
